WORLDCATenterprise™ is EQECAT’s catastrophe risk modeling software platform that enables clients to quantify and manage potential financial impact of natural hazards.
The software includes 181 natural hazard models for 95 countries and territories spanning six continents. These models are based upon innovative applications of the latest science, engineering expertise, claims and exposure data and advanced mathematics.
Version 3.16 features updates to:
EQECAT's North Atlantic Hurricane Model is being updated to include a high-resolution, detailed time-stepping windfield model that enables computation of wind speeds at latitude-longitude co-ordinates along coastal zones. It will also introduce enhanced treatment of land use/land cover friction within the model, consequently reducing uncertainty in modeled results.
The release will further include updates to the historical event set (1900 to 2009), along with corresponding updates to event frequencies. In addition, vulnerability functions for high-rise structures will be updated to account for the vertical distribution of wind speeds, based on EQECAT's engineering analysis and claims data information.
US Hurricane industry exposure database will also be updated in version 3.16. This database provides information on the US insurance industry market exposures affected by the hurricane peril. Exposures are disaggregated by structure type and by line of business at the ZIP Code level.
The Canada earthquake model will incorporate the latest, fourth-generation hazard model from the Geological Survey of Canada while also ensuring consistent results across the US border. The update will feature custom output formats for integration with regulatory reporting requirements and a diverse set of historical and hypothetical events for illustrative "what-if" benchmarking.
EQECAT will release, in tandem, an updated insured exposure database for Canada earthquake. This database provides information on the Canada earthquake insurance industry market exposures and includes policies for earthquake and fire following perils. Exposures are disaggregated by structure type and line of business at the Canadian Forward Sortation Area (FSA) level.
The Asia Typhoon Model has been updated to allow analysis of wind only and wind and rainfall-induced flooding combined. Analysis run time will be significantly improved for wind only results.
WORLDCATenterprise 3.16 will include new functionality to dynamically connect and disconnect databases without disrupting other processes. This feature will allow efficient transmission of data between companies and among stakeholders.
The WORLDCATenterprise 3.16 release also includes improved event loss table outputs with all stochastic event set reports being written directly to user-accessible databases, including new reports by location.
WORLDCATenterprise 3.15 was released on July 31, 2010. WORLDCATenterprise 3.15 included updates to EQECAT’s US Earthquake Model, a new basin-wide Asia Typhoon Model (China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand) and Latin America Earthquake Model (affecting Chile, Peru and Argentina). It also incorporated several performance and workflow enhancements for data import and validation.
