Catastrophe risk modeling firm EQECAT, Inc., will host a half-day conference, New Techniques for Understanding and Managing Emerging Typhoon Risk in Asia, from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm on May 18, 2010 starting with lunch from 12:30 pm 1:30 pm, followed by the conference program and reception at the InterContinental Singapore. The conference program will provide professionals in the global re/insurance industry with a better understanding of Asia’s increasing need to manage natural catastrophe risk. The conference, lunch, and reception are free of charge.
Hee J. Ham, Ph.D., associate professor, division of architecture at Kangwoon National University in Korea, will discuss building vulnerabilities subjected to typhoon wind loads. A panel which will discuss the future of catastrophe insurance in Asia includes James Atwood, executive vice president and chief risk officer at Asia Capital Reinsurance Group, Dr. Mohan Sharma, executive director research & development Asia Pacific, Aon Benfield Asia Pte Ltd, and Richard Sanders, senior catastrophe analyst of Willis Re.
