Catastrophe risk modeling firm EQECAT announced that RiskMeter Online, a real-time natural hazard risk report provider, has signed a three year licensing agreement for continued use of EQECAT’s United States Earthquake model, part of its WORLDCATenterprise™ catastrophe management software suite.

RiskMeter Online will use the model to provide its clients with a resource to price and assess earthquake risk through its RiskMeter Online™ tool.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

RiskMeter Online is an Internet application which enables underwriters and insurance agents to obtain over 30 real-time natural hazard risk reports, including Distance to Coast, FEMA Flood Zones, State Windpool Eligibility, Hurricane Storm Surge and Distance to Fault Lines for any property in the United States.

"To help our clients price and assess their earthquake risks, we considered it imperative to provide real-time Annual Average Loss and Probable Maximum Loss data," said Dan Munson, Founder, RiskMeter Online. "We believe that the expansion of our relationship with EQECAT, a technology leader in catastrophe modeling, will give our clients a valuable competitive edge," he continued.

"The agreement underscores EQECAT’s position as a trusted and insightful adviser to its clients," said Bill Keogh, Senior Vice President of EQECAT. "The combination of RiskMeter’s easy-to-use end-user product, coupled with EQECAT's refined catastrophe loss information which is incorporated into the U.S. Earthquake model, will be especially useful to the property and casualty marketplace," he said.

EQECAT’s WORLDCATenterprise™ platform is used by clients to assess the potential damage and quantify and manage the potential financial impact from earthquakes, wind, flood and wildfire, among other perils.

EQECAT's U.S. earthquake model which has undergone independent review by the U.S. Geological Survey, the California Geological Survey and the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Center, has met the high standards of the California Earthquake Authority and has been recognized as suitable for use by the CEA for public rate filings.
