New York Session Part Of 2005 Regional Meeting Series

New York, New York, May 18, 2005

EQECAT, Inc., the authority on extreme-risk modeling, today convened, in New York City, the second in its series of regional 2005 Catastrophe Management client-meetings.

The two-day meeting will focus on “the future of cat modeling;” the benefits of EQECAT’s updated catastrophe models, which are part of its highly regarded WORLDCATenterprise™ platform; and a variety of other manmade and natural hazards, which are top-line issues of insurance and reinsurance companies in the United States and abroad.

Speakers at the New York conference will review some of 2004’s natural catastrophes and how characteristics of those events are considered in EQECAT’s updated U.S. hurricane model, which will be released this summer. Presentations also will focus on EQECAT’s updated U.S. earthquake model, which also will be released this summer. “The earthquake model is the only one in the industry considered ‘state-of-the-art’ by the California Earthquake Authority, said Tom Larsen, senior vice president of EQECAT.

Other presentations and discussions at the New York meeting will focus on:

  • advanced portfolio technologies;

  • improving business efficiency through integrated catastrophe models;

  • EQECAT’s hurricane, flood and tornado models;

  • spanning the capital and indemnity marketplace;

  • options for managing terrorism risk exposures; and,

  • advances in EQECAT’s integrated solution for catastrophe modeling (XML Implementation).
