US Hurricanes
General Description
Hurricanes are cyclonic wind systems that develop over tropical waters. They are a severe category of "tropical cyclones". Tropical cyclones are warm-core, nonfrontal lowpressure systems of synoptic scale that develop over tropical or subtropical waters and have definite organized surface circulation. Tropical cyclones result from the occurrence of "tropical depressions" (i.e. regions of localized low pressure and other localized environmental conditions).
