The Australia Earthquake Model
The Seismicity Hazard Model for the Australian Region
The Australian continent is well monitored for seismicity by networks of seismometers dispersed around the various states, and maintained by university and government seismologist. The Australian earthquake catalogues is maintained by Bureau of Mineral Resources, Geology and Geophysics, using data from all the various seismological agencies. Prior to the installation of seismic instrumentation, record of past earthquakes are preserved in the form of historical accounts of felt effects and damage resulting from seismic ground shaking.
