New Approaches to Tornado-Hail Risk Modeling ”Sharpening the Insurance Industry’s tools”
According to PCS (i) data, tornado-hail events account for 46% of all U.S. catastrophe property insurance losses since 1949, more than any other peril. Since 1997, 7 of the 10 largest U.S. catastrophe losses involved tornados and hail. Yet, until now the insurance industry has had no effective modeling tools to manage this exposure (ii). EQECAT has harnessed it’s expertise in qualitatively modeling natural perils with fast quantitative analysis methods to offer a new tool to property insurers. This new tool provides reliable comparisons with historic loss observations accompanied with precision risk differentiation.
