Earthquake Workers Compensation Analysis Methodology and User's Manual (Short)
This document presents the methodology and the description of the practical steps needed to perform an Earthquake Workers Compensation analysis on a portfolio in the US.
The earthquake Workers Compensation (WC) model is designed in a similar fashion as the standard USQUAKE model. In the WC model the hazard is calculated using the same algorithm as in the standard property product. The casualty rate by injury type is calculated at each building location using casualty rate curves defined as a function of seismic hazard and building type. Finally, the WC loss is determined based on the loss rate (benefits) distributions by injury type derived from insurance claims. These rates vary by state and could be defined by the user.
