EQECAT Romanian Earthquake Model
Romania is a country with moderate seismic activity with frequent reminders of catastrophic earthquakes. Destructive earthquakes occur regularly in this region resulting in significant economic losses and widespread loss of life. Recent examples of such events are the four large earthquakes (Mw>7), which successively hit Romania from 1940 to 1990. Most cities in Romania are exposed to moderate to high levels of seismic hazard.
