This document presents the methodology and the description of the practical steps needed to perform a brushfire loss analysis on a portfolio in California.

The Brushfire Loss Model (BF) was first developed by EQECAT in 1998 and was continuously enhanced to reach the current release stage. The initial version of the model was adapted from the USDA BEHAVE fire behavior algorithms [3].
